Bio/Vision: Shihan Marinus Hook created and developed Family Tree Karate, Inc. in 1995. A non-threatening name, for a Martial Arts School, but with great purpose. He realized that his life has been made to help others. Today he has had the privilege of teaching thousands of students, with about three hundred active in what is his new location: 6583 Ruch Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18017

Marinus Hook has decades of training, teaching and merging the styles he studied to create the unique teachings of Family Tree Karate. The named school “Family Tree Karate” was created for two main reasons. First, growing up without parents his school in a way became his family. Secondly, the belief that all martial arts is part of a family under one umbrella. Today MMA (mixed martial arts is the most popular style) proving the belief of the curriculum unique to FTK.

Our Style is combination of Boxing, Kick Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aiki Jiu-Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo and Aikido. All the Black Belts at FTK have been trained in this system and through this curriculum is an endless source of knowledge.

Marinus has traveled to China extensively to train and teach and has been awarded his Tai Chi instructors uniform. In 2002 he was inducted into the National Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
